Voter Guide 2022: Key Colorado Senate races

Of the Colorado state Senate districts with an election in 2022, seven are viewed as competitive. Democrats have a 21-14 majority in the Senate, and Republicans are looking to those seven races as their best opportunity to claim a majority in one of the state Legislature’s two chambers. The Democrats’ majority in the state House is not viewed as vulnerable in this election.

The seven competitive districts are:

• Senate District 3: Includes Pueblo, has 5.1 percentage point advantage in favor of Democrats based on recent elections. 
• Senate District 8: Includes most northwest Colorado counties such as Garfield, Jackson, Eagle, Clear Creek and Gilpin, has a 6.6 percentage point advantage for Democrats based on recent elections.
• Senate District 11: Includes southeast Colorado Springs, has a 2.4 percentage point advantage in favor of Democrats based on recent elections.
• Senate District 15: Includes Larimer County and most of Boulder County, no advantage for either party based on recent elections. 
• Senate District 20: Includes parts of northwestern Jefferson County, has a 7.1 percentage point advantage for Democrats based on recent elections.
• Senate District 24: Is part of Adams County and includes parts of Thornton, Northglenn and Henderson, has a 9.1 percentage point advantage for Democrats based on recent elections.
• Senate District 27: Is part of Arapahoe County, has a 4.7 percentage point advantage for Democrats based on recent elections.
