The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment recorded an average of 4,019 new cases of COVID-19 each day from Dec. 3 through Dec. 9. That’s lower than the daily average of 4,407 for the prior seven days.

In total, 3,759 people have died in Colorado with COVID-19, including 3,005 have died as a direct result of the illness.

The briefing comes as states across the country, including Colorado, prepare to distribute a COVID-19 vaccine produced by Pfizer, final federal approval for which is expected to occur within days.
