LIVE: Gov. Polis gives briefing on COVID-19 at 12:30 p.m. Oct. 20

    Gov. Jared Polis is scheduled to give a live update at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 20 on Colorado’s COVID-19 response. The news briefing will be conducted from the Governor’s Mansion in Denver.

    During the briefing, Polis will be joined by Jill Ryan, executive director of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment; Dr. Rachel Herlihy, state epidemiologist; and Kate Greenberg, commissioner of agriculture.

    Through Oct. 18, Colorado had 86,374 cases of COVID-19 and 2,051 deaths due to the disease, according to data from CDPHE.

    The weekly average of daily reported new cases was 960 for the week ending Oct. 18 — up from the previous week, when the average was 791 new cases per day.

    At the governor’s last briefing Oct. 19, he announced the state’s plan for distributing a COVID-19 vaccine once it becomes available.
